Poultry Research & Training Centre

Major Objectives

• To undertake basic, applied and adaptive research related to avian production including conservation and maintenance of poultry germplasm.
• To impart specialized training and post graduate research for students of poultry science.
• To develop and standardize package of practices related to feeding, management, health cover and post-harvest technology .
• Transfer of technology to the poultry farmers and industry.
• To provide referral and consultancy services in all aspects of poultry production.

Major Activities Proposed

• Maintenance of model chicken unit to demonstrate the advance technical knowhow on poultry production to the farming community as well as students.
• Maintenance of elite parents of broiler to produce double hybrid commercial chicks to supply among the poultry farmers of this region.
• Maintenance of elite breeds of layer to produce embryonated as well as commercial eggs to fulfill the demand of market.
• Production of designer’s chicken egg as well as organic eggs through nutritional manipulations.
• Production of various post-harvest chicken meat products
• Production of poultry feed to meet out the domestic requirement as well as for sale to the poultry farmers or entrepreneurs.
• Organization of contract research and paid trainings to the personnels from the industry.
