Farm Machinery and Power Engineering

Farm Machinery and Power Engineering

The Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, established in 2019, is a vital academic unit dedicated to advancing the field of agricultural engineering. Since its inception, the department has been actively involved in comprehensive teaching, research, and impactful extension activities. In 2025, the department expanded its academic scope by launching M. Tech and Doctoral program, further strengthening its role in cultivating expertise and innovation in the discipline.

The department’s core mission is to emerge as a Center of Excellence in Agricultural Education by blending strong theoretical foundations with practical, hands-on experience. Students are trained through a curriculum that emphasizes the design, development, and application of modern farm machinery, and efficient power systems tailored for agricultural use. In addition, the department actively promotes interdisciplinary learning and research that addresses real-world challenges faced by the agricultural sector.

With a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration with industry and research organizations, the department strives to remain at the forefront of technological advancements. It aims to equip students not only with the technical knowledge required for modern agricultural practices but also with the problem-solving skills and ethical mindset needed to lead sustainable agricultural transformations. By fostering a dynamic learning environment and a culture of continuous improvement, the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture and contributing to national and global food security.

Objectives

  • Education Excellence: Provide high-quality education and training in farm machinery and power engineering.
  • Research and Innovation: Promote research and development in modern agricultural technologies and sustainable practices.
  • Industry Collaboration: Establish strong partnerships with agricultural industries to enhance learning and job placement opportunities.
  • Practical Training: Equip students with hands-on experience through labs, workshops, and field training.
