Introduction

The Department of Entomology came into existence with the start of under graduate teaching in agriculture leading to B. Sc. (Ag.) degree in the year 2001 with Entomology as one of the compulsory subject under the college of Agriculture. It was fortunate that the establishment of this Department was entrusted in the able hands of late. Dr. H.S. Verma, Professor in 2001. Dr. C. S. Prasad, Professor a known name in Indian Entomology joined this Department in 2001 as an Associate Professor, Entomology; this signified a rich biological agent production and intensive study of the life history of insect pests of this region and teaching in the field of applied Entomology.

Sufficient addition was made in applied as well as fundamental researches after Dr. S.K. Sachan & Dr. Gaje Singh joined this Department as Professor. Separate research laboratories of biological control, white grub and aquaculture were established. The faculty strength of the department was increased with the appointment of three teachers namely Dr. D.V. Singh, Professor, Dr. Hem Singh, Associate Professor and Dr. Rajendra Singh, Associate Professor. The faculty strength increased further during 2019 with the appointment of Dr. D.N. Mishra, as Professor & Head. A number of distinguished national & international scientists have been visiting this department during this period. At present the total strength of teachers and scientists is 06, composed of 4 Professors & 2 Associate Professor.
